South China Prefab Housing Industrial Park
The housing component of the industrial park used prefab construction with magnesium prefab wall panels throughout. Dry installation ran in parallel with structural work; no plastering or painting was needed, markedly shortening fit-out. The Class A1 panel base passed fire acceptance.
East China Grade-A Hospital Extension Smoke Ducts
Smoke-exhaust ducts in the hospital extension were encased with magnesium fire-rated duct boards. Fire-resistant assemblies were selected per the general fire code, with detail drawings and on-site briefing to preserve smoke-system integrity in this densely occupied facility.

How GB 55037-2022 General Fire Code Affects Board Selection
GB 55037-2022 is a mandatory engineering code setting hard requirements for reaction-to-fire and fire resistance of partitions, ceilings and smoke ducts. Key points: determine reaction class by location (Class A non-combustible preferred for occupied/egress areas), determine fire resistance by system and demand full assembly test reports — a compliant board does not alone make a compliant system.

Magnesium boards reach Class A1 non-combustible, are moisture-proof and formaldehyde-free, outperforming gypsum board overall and offering better toughness and screw-holding than calcium silicate in fire/moisture scenarios. Gypsum is cheap but weaker in fire and moisture. Choose magnesium for fire/humid uses; gypsum for dry, low-cost ceilings.

Class A1 is the highest grade in GB 8624-2012: the material undergoes virtually no flaming combustion and releases negligible heat or smoke in a fire. Magnesium boards as inorganic products can reach A1 — but an A1 board is not automatically an A1 system; partition/duct fire resistance also depends on assembly and installation.
